Valentine's Day

Today was a very special day in our classroom because it was Valentine's Day.  We had so much fun!!  The students thoroughly enjoyed passing out their Valentine cards and candy.  We talked about friendship and what qualities make up a good friend.  We brainstormed ideas of what makes the "ideal" friend.  Then, each child completed a writing activity explaining their own definition of a good friend.  Some of the students writings are shared below.  Our class also played "Valentine" bingo and read some great books on this special holiday.  We had a party after lunch that included eating cake, chips, cookies, and of course we had ski to drink.  The day was great and the students displayed true acts of friendship.

Class Play!!!

Our story of the week was a class play.  The title was "Where Are My Animal Friends?"  The kids had such a great time with this story.  I broke the class into groups and assigned an animal part to each student.  We also made masks to go along with each part.  We practiced each day and on Friday we presented our play to the kindergarten classes.  Below are pictures of the kids practicing the play.  I must say we had so much fun and had lots of laughs while doing this.  I was so proud of everyone!!!

Making the Grinch Grin!!!

Our class has just finished reading the storybook "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!"  The students loved reading this story.  We also completed a writing activity to go along with the story.  We wanted to make sure the Grinch was in the Christmas spirit this holiday season.  The students wrote how they would make the Grinch grin instead of being mean.  Their ideas were very creative!!!!
